Yuvanaswa, a childless king, accidentally drank a magic potion meant for his wife — and fell pregnant. The gods favoured him and helped with the birth. But how was the child to be fed? Indra, king of the gods, offered his thumb, from which divine nectar flowed. The boy was named Mandhata, a future ruler of the world. And because that heavenly nursing is etched deep in human memory, babies still suck their thumbs to this day.

Perfume comes alive on warm pulse points — the neck, the wrists, behind the ears. A few sprays will carry it through the day, its facets opening up on the skin little by little. You can spritz it on clothing too, where it often lasts even longer — just keep it off delicate fabrics like silk.
Sustainability
The scents are vegan and cruelty-free, and made entirely by hand in the brand’s own Stockholm studio.
About the brand
Stora Skuggan — “the big shadow,” named for a patch of nature in Stockholm — is the work of five friends from design school who taught themselves perfumery and still do everything by hand. Each scent tells a story: an extinct ancient plant (Silphium), an unexplained natural phenomenon (Mistpouffer), a cave mineral (Moonmilk). Clever, idiosyncratic, sometimes winking — and entirely vegan. Made by hand in Stockholm. Perfumery for the curious.
