L.T. PIVER Eau de Parfum Cuir de Russie
Composed in 1892, inspired by a piece of leather from the wreck of the Metta Catharina, which sank in 1786 — tanned with birch tar, as the Tsar’s soldiers treated theirs against wind and weather. Bergamot, mandarin and cardamom open bright; at the heart, smoked oud, lavender, clove, nutmeg and cumin meet. The base belongs to the leather itself, carried by damp patchouli and dry cedar.
