Penhaligon’s

In 1870 William Penhaligon, a barber from Cornwall, opened his shop on London’s Jermyn Street — right next to the Turkish baths. From their fragrant steam he composed his first perfume, Hammam Bouquet, in 1872. So began one of the most British houses of all: holder of royal warrants, creator of classics like Blenheim Bouquet — and today of the eccentric Portraits collection with its animal-headed bottles. A century and a half of English wit and elegance in a bottle.
