Marseille has been making soap for centuries. La Compagnie de Provence, founded in 1990 by two design-minded Marseillais, brought that tradition into the present: in 1999 it was the first to release Marseille soap in liquid form — in the clear glass pump bottle that has stood by countless sinks ever since. The base stays classic: vegetable oils, saponified in a cauldron, no frills. Add hand creams, home fragrance, and scents like cotton flower and Mediterranean sea. Made in France. An old soap in very good shape.
