Since 1777 the Walde family has made soap and candles in Innsbruck — today in its eighth generation, as Austria’s oldest soap works. The fashions of the day have changed; the craft hasn’t: hand-scooped soaps with Tyrolean herbs and flowers, hand-poured scented candles, beeswax. Their Innsbruck candle shop still bears the old guild name “Tiroler Wachszieher und Lebzelter.” Alpine craftsmanship, made in Tyrol, for nearly 250 years.
