Created in 1889, the year of the Eiffel Tower, by Georges Darzens — who here used aldehydes in a perfume for the first time in history, giving it an almost unreal shimmer. Pink pepper and bergamot flash above it; a heart of raspberry, blackcurrant, rose and saffron follows. Cedarwood, amber and musk remain: the wood of old chests and sun-warmed skin.
